Andy,
I don't have the question at home, so tell me what is the question asking you, give me all the information and I can give you a solution.

Mr. McGrath,
I am back in the country, as usual give me the information that you have and what it is asking and I will give you a hint, it will probably be tommorrow morning before I get back to you. If you are still stuck after the hint let me know and I will give more information Sunday night. Cool

a tennis player hits a ball at a height of 2.4m. the ball has an initial horizontal velocity

the ball just passes over the net which is 0.6m high and 6m away from her(neglect air friction).
a) calculate the time required for the ball to reach the net?
b) what was the speed of the ball as it left the racquet?

What do you know
You know in the horizontal displacement is 6m and accelleration is 0 m/s2.
You know in the vertical dispacement is (2.4m - 0.6m) = 1.8m, vertical starting speed is 0 m/s and vertical acceleration is gravity.
For part a, find out how long the ball took?
Use your vertical information to find time.
For part b
You know know time, horizontal distance and that horizontal speed does not change. Using distance and time find speed.
